Hand tufting is an old fashioned technique we have been employing in our mattress production since the mid 1940's. We use European tufting straps for a comfortable sleeping surface, rather than buttons, which can turn on their side causing discomfort.
Our Box Spring Units Provide Excellent Support and Durability
We provide 50% more coils in the center-third of our box spring for extra support where it's needed most (about 40% of our body weight is located in our torso area). We use a wide slat foundation, and thick 8 3/4 gauge coil wire so your box spring will support the mattress with lasting durability and comfort.

How are Royal Pedic mattresses made?

*Organic cotton goes through a garnet machine, converting the cotton balls into beautiful layers of finest organic cotton batting.

*Inner padding is meticulously hand tufted with European tufting straps to pre-compress the cotton padding for orthopedic back support. Hand tufting is a process the company founder learned from Heals of London,the premiere mattress maker, who made mattresses for the Royal Family of England. Skilled craftsmen take care and time to make a Royal Pedic custom made, hand tufted mattress.

*Best quality Royal-Pedic Box Springs are the most comfortable and durable available with 50% more coils in the center-third of the box spring for extra support where it's needed the most (about 40% of our body weight is located in our torso area). Royal Pedic springs are an extra durable 8 3/4" gauge thickness of wire compared to an average 9 1/2" gauge wire used by others. LOWER IS BETTER when it comes to gage . Box springs are supported by a steel frame ,and inside the box are hard wood slats that support and brace the top mattress. Royal Pedic box spring units last for years and double heat tempered treatment resists sagging and provide more durability. Double heat tempering coils are baked in an oven, cooled down and then baked in the oven again. Number of coils Royal Pedic uses in box spring units are 22% more than industry standard. Higher coil count results in more coils that are closer together, providing additional support for mattresses and prevent mattress from deteriorating. Foundations used to mount coil springs are extra wide slat versions to provide more support for coils to rest on - the same width of slat that is required toassure superior durability.

A wire system called the Webster Lock Grid System is used to keep the coils in place. Steel wire is woven throughout the tops of the coils to secure the coil in place to eliminate the possibility of any lateral movement. Handcrafted, organic cotton mattresses are constructed to offer best quality natural organic mattresses. The covering, padding, binding tape, and insulator pads are made with 100% organic cotton, grown without pesticides or chemical fertilization to provide a healthy, restful sleeping experience. The mattress is orthopedic firm. The mattress is 8" thickness, and overall mattress height to the floor on our 8" thick box spring and 7 1/4" metal bed frame is about 23".
