- There is the actual lamp specifications, which lists the general wattage
of each lamp. We use 9 watt lamps
- There is another number tied to the specifications of the lamps, and this
value is microwatts per square centimeter.. This is a measure of the output
of the lamp, and is a function of the intensity (brightness and output) of the
lamp at a certain distance. In the tracs system, this value is about 34,000
microwatts per square centimeter per lamp.
- Lastly, there is the most important value, which is the UV dosage. UV
dosage is how organisms are measured for destruction, and it shows the actual Uv potency of the entire system and its ability to kill airborne pathogens. UV
dosage is a function of the intensity/output of the light, and the amount of
time the microorganisms are exposed to the light. It is termed in "microwatt
seconds per square centimeter". For instance, TB requires 10,000 microwatt
seconds per centimeter squared of UV dosage for complete destruction, influenza
about 6,600, etc.. In TRACS, 18,415 microwatt seconds per square centimeter are
created. Again, the first two values are just energy intensity values, but
UV dosage applies the intensity value to the amount of time an organism is
exposed to it, and therefore you can see what is destroyed by the unit. UV dosage
is what really matters in an air cleaner. Now, what makes our unit better than other UV units is the fact that the UV dosage required for complete destruction of many molds and bacteria is very high, even in the hundreds of thousands of microwatt seconds per centimeter squared. Large molds are typically very large (which is why they can't be destroyed when airborne), so they are
trapped by the HEPA. This is what poses problems in many air cleaners,
because live microorganisms can live and breed on your HEPA filter. However,
because the dirty side of the HEPA filter is constantly bathed in UV light, trapped
microoorganisms in TRACS will be killed over time. And this makes sense, for
you are increasing the UV dosage infinitely because the residence time (time
the organism is exposed to the UV) is unlimited as long as the unit is running
because all parts of the HEPA filter are constantly being shined on.

- TRACS Total Room Air Cleaning System - - TRACS Total Room Air Cleaning System combines certified hospital-grade HEPA filtration with ultraviolet germicidal radiation and blended carbon to remove airborne dust, allergens, bacteria, viruses, mold, odors, and more. Its design, efficiency, compact size, low noise level, and affordable maintenance costs make TRACS a great asset to a room with mold and other pollution. * TRACS uses technology used in hospitals for high-risk infection control.
- UV lamps are located before (and radiating on) the dirty/inlet side of the HEPA filter. This location keeps the filter free from mold and bacteria growth, extending the life of the HEPA and protecting the person changing the filter against infection from the dirty filter. UV lamps located in this position is an advantage.
- All UV is safely contained within the unit.
- Separate UV on/off switch.
- Affordable maintenance costs.
- Proprietary blend of carbon removes toxic odors, chemicals, gases, and VOCs.
- All electrical components isolated from UV exposure.
- Individually certified true HEPA filter with 80 square feet of media removes harmful dust, particulate, allergens, pet dander, and more at 99.99 percent efficiency.
- Back panel is fastened to the cabinet with small nylon knurl screws so that no tools are required for any replacement component.
-
As of September 1, 2005 carbon postfilters are permanently installed within the cabinet and never require replacement.

New Four Speed Blower: As of 1/31/07 four speed blower offers a quiet and efficient air flow. New low "Whisp-Air" speed allows for silent operation while maintaining hospital-grade efficiency. Air flow of 250 cfm.
-
As of 1/31/07 TRACS utilizes a micro-processing keypad that controls air flow and UV lamps and monitors loading on the HEPA filter and the carbon prefilter pack. Touchpad controls allow for simple fan-speed changing and UV lamp on/off. LEDs monitor UV lamps and the filters and advise when individual UV lamps need to be replaced or when filters are clogged with particulate build-up.
- Filters and average replacement times described belowDimensions: 15.5"W x 15"D x 22"H; weighs 50 pounds. 115 volts; 60 Hz; 1 amp; 100 watts; 6' power cord. (220-volt model also available below.) Colors: black, sandstone, white. 5-year mfg. warranty. Made in USA.

Pyramid Air Solutions T.R.A.C.S.
Upgraded TRACS and EZ Air with a
new four speed blower that is exceptionally quiet on the lowest setting (our
"Whisp-Air" setting). Also, TRACS now uses a new microprocessing keypad control
system for changing speeds, turning UV/Fan on and off, and which monitors
each lamp and the filters. These significant upgrades and standard increased metal and freight costs has increased retail price for TRACS to $749, and EZ Air now retails at $450 . Full variable speed switch. 115 volts; 60 Hz; 1 amp; 100 watts;
6' power cord. (220-volt model available )
